Sumera Shan Ahmed; I conducted the activity taught us by Sir Dieter Bruhn but with some changes. I have divided it into steps because students were taking much interest in it.
Step 1
Class was divided in 3 groups. 1 student from each group, whose drawing skills were good, was separated. Then I showed the class (except those 3 students) a picture on multimedia. After the display of image it was hidden by me. Then class was asked to give instructions to that group member who hasn’t viewed that picture and he was suppose then supposed to draw it on whiteboard. Each group was given limited time and a competitive spirit was built.
Step 2
In this step all student were asked to draw anything they want. They were free to draw anything according to their perception.
Step 3
In step 3, I divided them in pairs. They haven’t seen each other’s drawing yet. Now student A was giving instructions (in English only) to student B and student B was drawing A’s painting without having a look at it. Though drawings were not exactly the same but the purpose behind conducting these activities was fulfilled.
Step 4
In the last step every student was presenting the theme of his drawing. What was the idea behind drawing all these things and what message they wanted to convey.
I conducted these activities with Engineering, Architecture, Mass com and BBA students. The major purpose of conducting this activity was to enhance their confidence, interest and communication skills without any learning anxiety. Thank you very much KETT and our knowledge pearls (trainers).
