Being Empathetic

Hasan Khan; I along with Aman Sultan Mirza, Saqlain Haider, Hasan Khan, Aamish Saboor, Nazeer, Aqeel Gadit, Hamza Ali, Hania Mansoori, Tooba, Warda Sarwar and Hadiqa Rais,
students of Access from different centers of Karachi went to Darus Sukoon on 30th JAN, 2016.
Darus Sukoon is an “Old Age Home” located on M.A Jinnah Road, Karachi.

We wanted to spread love and hope among them. And make them feel that we all are with them and they are not alone. We played ludo and carem with them and also danced with them. We also took some stuff with us for them like; warm caps, gloves, ear cover, socks and aroma fruits.

Different stuff was made by Darus Sukoon’s residents, in order to earn money. We all have purchased those goods too, to help them.
Lastly I would like to pay special thanks to Sir Syed Muhammad Ahsan Rizvi for joining us. I wish you all will like and appreciate our efforts.

Power Words

Abdul Samad; At our English club I taught our students ‘power words’. First I explained to them the phenomenon of using power words then asked them to share some power words they know and jotted them down on whiteboard and asked each of them to make a sentence using written power words. Next day, I brief them about their self-capabilities under the session “Know Thyself” and then did tongue twister one by one. They really enjoyed it meanwhile I introduced the term contraction as well.

Introduction to Access Program

Introduction to Access Program

Ismail Abbasi; Today was my first day as an Access Teacher at Sir Syed Public School Rawalpindi. The kids were huge in number and I had to speak very loud. First I gave them my introduction through adapting Sir Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui’s universal salam, then I told them about Access. What Access basically is and how it is meant to change their lives. I brought to fore the main objectives of Access program apart from learning English language, I told them that our aim is to make them leaders, to build tolerance in them, to help them to be confident in all spheres of life, to raise the sense of community service in them and to provide them the awareness of cultural exchange etc. They absolutely loved every bit of it. After an hour I did energizer with them and at the later part of our session I conducted the activity of oral introduction as the students were from different classes, they asked questions to each other and expressed their illness through expression and signals. This activity was taught by Sir Dieter Bruhn’s (Noon suuu) in KETT. It all went awesome thankfully.
