  • Psychological benefits: life satisfaction, feeling good about yourself, and decreases stress and depression.
  • Social benefits: Engages students with the community, creates special bonds with the population served, as well as increased social responsibility.

Conflict Resolution

Poorly managed conflict often causes friction among people in social, professional and educational settings, possibly damaging the working relationship. By learning how to resolve conflicts in a respectful manner, people involved are often able to strengthen their relationships. The skills enable us to work well together because the parties involved know how to navigate the disagreement. Instead of fighting, insulting or ignoring one another, the colleagues learn how to better collaborate, which can help build their relationships.

In this workshop participants will learn various techniques to manage and resolve conflict. The participants will also learn the four key conflict resolution skills i.e. relieving stress, recognizing & managing emotions, using effecting nonverbal communication and using humor to deal with challenges.

Effective Use of Non-verbal Communication

Good communication is the foundation of any successful relationship, be it personal or professional. It’s important to recognize, though, that it’s our nonverbal communication—our facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, posture, and tone of voice—that speak the loudest. The ability to understand and use nonverbal communication, or body language, is a powerful tool that can help you connect with others, express what you really mean, and build better relationships.

In this highly interactive workshop participants will learn the importance of nonverbal communication. The session would also help them distinguish among the different types of communication such as verbal, vocal and nonverbal.

Know Thyself

We live in a complicated world that seems to expect us to be lots of different things all the same time. Very rarely are we called on just to be ourselves – yet strangely when we see that in others we applaud it and call it things like, ‘charisma’, ‘individuality’ and ‘inspiring leadership’. So, why is it that true individuality in others seems inspiring and yet individuality for ourselves seem impossible – or at least impractical?

In this interactive workshop participants will explore how they can become the people they are, how and why they “lose themselves” – and what they can do about it. Socrates says that the main priority of life is to find yourself – and, if you choose, you can become the world’s expert on yourself. This is the path of personal growth and development and ultimately no-one cab have a better understanding of yourself than you. The talk aims at helping youth to identifying innate potential (internal resources), channeling their energies for constructive tasks, enhancing their self-esteem, confidence and improving their leadership skills.

Language games bring the target language to life. Games help students to make and sustain the effort of learning. Games can provide language practice in the various skills- speaking, writing, listening and reading. They encourage students to interact and communicate. Date: Nov 19, 2016 | Time: 10 am to 01:00 pm

ESL classrooms in Pakistan, in general, focus on teaching the macro-skills to the students along with grammar whereas teaching of vocabulary isn’t given due attention. The most common mode of teaching vocabulary is to have the learners memorize long lists of words and their meanings. Unfortunately, the method of trying to learn ‘words-meanings’ in isolation turns out to be rather unproductive and inefficient.

In this session, participants will be engaged in the following fun-filled vocabulary building activities:

  • Learning stems, prefixes and suffixes and how these are combined to form different words
  • learning different parts of speech for the same word
  • Cross-word and other word puzzles
  • Head-to-tail and bingo
  • Words beginning with particular sounds; words ending with particular sounds
